The 2009 inductees
are:
• Warren Little
- was principal of Jonesville High School for 20 years (1962-1982). His
faculty always emphasized academics, discipline and character development.
• Doris Warren
- Whitlock was a basketball player at Lockhart High School (1943-1950). She
averaged 32 points during her senior season and had a career high of 55 points
in one game.
• Lawrence Monk
- Vanderford led Lockhart to its only state football championship in 1971. His
baseball teams won back-to-back state championships in 1971 and 1972.
• Mike
Vanderford - was a four-sport letterman at Lockhart. He was the winning
pitcher in five of seven playoff games for the 1969 state championship baseball
team.
• Larry Foster
- was a 1970 graduate of Jonesville High School. He was a three-sport letterman
and was selected captain on all three teams. He was a pioneer in 1970, as he was
one of the first black athletes at Jonesville High after integration.
• Rick McCloud
- was a three-sport letterman at Lockhart. He was instrumental in leading
Lockhart to the 1969 state baseball championship. He was all-conference his
junior and senior years.
• Ken Crocker
- was a three-sport letterman from 1966-71. He was a four-year starter in
football at Lockhart. He was named all-state in 1970 and was honored as the
Class A lineman of the year.
• Danny Comer
- was a track athlete at Lockhart. He still holds the school record in the long
jump, low hurdles and high hurdles. He was the first athlete to win an
individual state title.
• Jim Spencer
- lettered in three sports at Jonesville High. He was all-region in 1978-79 and
was selected all-state in 1978. He is now pastor at Brushy Creek Baptist in
Easley.
• Shannon Moore
Hill - was one of the most talented female athlete ever to attend Union
High. She lettered in track six years and participated all six years in the
state meet — a record that may be tied, but never broken.
• Ben Wages
- was a two-sport athlete in football and baseball. He played four different
positions and was selected best offensive lineman in 1989. He was best known for
his baseball, where he was the No. 1 ranked catcher in the state in 1989.
• Greg Medford
- lettered three years in football and baseball. He was all-region in 1990 in
baseball, as he led the team in hitting and home runs.
• Roderick Jeter
- was a two-year letterman in football and four-year letterman in track. He was
voted all-state in football in 1988 and was captain of the 1989 Union team.
• Jason Spencer
- was a three-year letterman in football and baseball. He led the team in 1989
receptions. He also led the team in steals and started at centerfield.
• Chris Hunter
- was a two-year letterman in football and was selected to the all-area team by
the Herald-Journal. He was all-region in basketball in 1990 and was all-region
in track in 1989.
• David Patrick
- was a two-sport letterman in basketball and tennis. He captained the 1983 and
1984 basketball teams. He led region II-4A in scoring, 1983-84.
